THIRD QUARTER    |   2014

The 2014 Participant Satisfaction Survey Is Here!

CalPERS and Voya Financial™ continually strive to improve the CalPERS Supplemental Income 457 Plan. The survey offers a quick and easy way for participants to tell us what they think and how they’re feeling about this optional benefit. The online survey will be available October 15th through November 9th, 2014 and all responses will be completely confidential.

Your help is needed to make this survey a success:

  • Encourage all 457 Plan participants in your department to take the survey.
  • Send them timely reminders that include the survey link.
  • Lead by example: complete the survey yourself if participating in the 457 Plan.

If you missed the e-mail with the survey link, no problem. Just give us a call at (888) 713-8244, and we’ll send it to you!

The survey is also available on the CalPERS 457 Plan website home page at https://calpers.voyaplans.com. A paper survey can be requested by calling (720) 484-4633.

Thank you, we value and appreciate your support.

Choose from three convenient ways to share your feedback:

  • Reply to the e-mail you and your employees will receive from us in October, or
  • Click the link on the home page at https://calpers.voyaplans.com, or
  • If you prefer a paper survey, please call (720) 484-4633.

Plan’s Record Keeper Is Voya Financial™

The 457 Plan record keeper, formerly known as ING, changed its name to Voya Financial as of September 1, 2014. Everything's the same except the name! For more information, go to http://www.calpers-sip.com.

Let’s Make The Most Of National Save For Retirement Week
October 19 – 25, 2014

Once again, Congress is turning our attention to the critical need to save for retirement by proclaiming October 19 – 25, 2014 as National Save for Retirement Week.

During this week, we ask that you help your employees to take full advantage of the 457 Plan as a convenient, effective way to potentially accumulate supplemental retirement savings.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Encourage all eligible employees to enroll in the 457 Plan.
  • Remind employees they can get help by phone or in person from experienced local representatives.
  • Suggest that all participants review their contribution level and investments during this time.
  • Make sure participants who are age 50 and older know that they could save more for retirement by making catch-up contributions to the 457 Plan.

To schedule onsite participant appointments or presentations, please call your local Plan representative toll free, 1-888-713-8244 Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).

New Brokerage Option Expands Investing Choices

The 457 Plan’s Self-Directed Brokerage Option (SDBO) has changed to the Schwab Personal Choice Retirement Account® (PCRA).

The PCRA replaced the State Street Global Markets Brokerage Window effective September 17, 2014. SDBO participants were notified in advance by mail.

It’s available to 457 Plan participants exclusively through their employers who have contracted for the provision. If you don’t currently offer it, now is the time to check out the newly added PCRA. This discount brokerage account provides participants with more investment choices, premium research tools and flexibility than ever.

The PCRA is designed for experienced investors who are willing to research, analyze and monitor the investments independently while making informed decisions and understanding the risks associated with the investment decisions made. Transaction fees and commissions apply. Investors should read the prospectus carefully to consider the investment objectives, risks, trading policies, charges and expenses before investing. Participants must obtain an application from their employers to enroll.

Schwab and State Street are independent entities and not affiliated with the Voya family of companies.

Let’s talk about why the PCRA could be a good fit for your employees. Click here for more details. Please call 1-800-696-3907, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).
